Chick Filet Kickoff Classic Phenomena May Spread Around the Country

Last Year, College football, with the help of Chick Fillet, started something unique, having a good SEC-ACC match up at the Georgi Dome to start the season.They called it the Chick Fillet Kick off Classic. It was between Alabama and Clemson, a game in which Alabama won. This year, the Tide will once again make an appearance, but this time, they will play the Hokies of Va. Tech. Organizers are talking about getting Georgia to Play North Carolina to start off the 2010 season. I like this format. We have an interesting game to get the ball rolling, or wobbling. No one likes to see a team like Florida play a patsy like Louisiana-Monroe to start the season. We need our appetites whetted.I believe that this format will not be relegated to just the SEC and ACC. I see a scenario where the Big X and Big Xll could have a Kickoff Classic: The White Castle Kickoff Classic, Texas vs Michigan, Ohio St. vs Oklahoma. White Castle, by the way, is a chain of hamburger restaurants in the Midwest similar to Krystal here in the South. We could have great games that would normally be bowl games. Instead, they would start the season. No more Texas vs N. Texas or Oklahoma vs Sam Houston St., or Kansas St. playing every Playoff Division (Div. 1-AA) it can get its hands on.College Football needs this. It will generate revenue for the schools involved, the fans will have a great time, and it will be (and has already been for Atlanta) an economic boom for the host cities involved. You could also do a Big Xll-Pac 10 match up in Denver every year, the Wells Fargo Kickoff Classic, Oklahoma vs USC. How bout the battle of the Black and Orange: Oregon St. vs Oklahoma St. Well, you get the point.Mark my words, their will be more "Kickoff Classics" like the one in Atlanta. They will be around the country involving teams from the other BCS conferences. They will be in cities like Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Chicago, or San Antonio. The expansion of the Kickoff Classic concept is a good thing for College Football.
